Devin would like to thank everyone that supported his race team for the 2011 racing season. It was a dream season winning the Outlaw Dirt Kart Nationals in one of the best races that anyone had witnessed all season, the English Creek Speedway Box Stock Points Championship and 11 out of 16 races on the season. Devin also picked up the Driver of the Year Award, along with a great 16x20 picture presented by Ken and Angie Berry of Ken’s Racing Pix all in his first season in the box stock class.

We would also like to thank Dan and his family and all of the track personnel at ECS for all of their hard work and giving us such a great place to race on Friday nights.

Congratulations to all of the racers at ECS this year and we look forward to seeing everyone next year. Hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday season. God Bless.

Devin Wignall #21

This Friday night will bring a close to the 2011 racing season for Devin and his 21 team. It has been a season that you could only dream about for this Rookie in the Box Stock Class. In fourteen races Devin pulled his Stew Hansen backed TRR powered Avenger into victory lane ten times. With the most impressive win coming in the 2011 Outlaw Dirt Kart Nationals. The motor did not take off on the start and Devin fell back to 11th after starting on the pole. As he was coming back up through the pack he spun out battling for 5th. After restarting last Devin pulled off a one of a kind performance and pulled off the victory.

Devin was able to string together nine A-Main wins in a row before running into some bad luck and spun while battling for the lead at ECS last Friday night. “ McKeena (Haase) and I got together racing hard for the lead. I went to the back and got back up to second. All and all we had a good night. We just have one more night left. It has been a real good year for our team.”

After winning his 4th A-Main in a row July 22nd and a rain out on July 29th , it was time for the Outlaw Dirt Kart Nationals to roll in to town at English Creek Speedway. “This is the one I have been waiting for all year. We only have had one good run at the Nationals the last three years with a second place finish in our first year in 2008.”

Devin started 5th in the first heat race and took the lead on lap three and cruised to victory. In the second heat Devin started from outside of the front row and led all ten laps to put him high point man for the first day of racing.

Day two Devin pulled the number one out of the hat to start the six car ten lap dash for cash from the number one spot. “ We got a good jump on the start and I was able to hang on for the ten laps.” Devin put the Stew Hansen TRR Powered Avenger on the pole for the twenty lap Nationals A-Main.

The start of the A-Main was not what the team was looking for. “On the start we must of got some debris in the carburetor and caused the motor to stumble and we fell back to 9th. I worked my way back up to 5th and I ended up spinning out coming off of turn two. We had to restart 11th with 13 laps to go. We got up into 2nd with 8 laps to go and there was a red flag. My Dad(Ron) told me that Josh(Moffitt) was running the bottom very well and that I had to go where he was not. We were able to power past him on the restart with five laps to go and win it. It was one crazy race! Thank god for the TRR horsepower to get me back to the front. I want to thank Scott McKeever, Marv and Carol Sievers(from California), Dave Abell(Battles Racing & Kart Supply), Tom Rayl(TRR), Grandpa(Glen), and Mom(Patricia) and Dad(Ron) for helping me win this Nationals!”

As the 21 Team pulled in to ECS Friday night the temps were nearing 100 degrees. Devin was looking to keep his string of good luck going as he has parked his Stew Hansen TRR Powered Avenger in victory lane the last two weekends.

Devin started sixth in heat race number one. With four laps to go Devin found himself in second place and reeling in race leader McKenna Haase. " I was able to catch her going into turn one on the white flag lap and just squeeze by her on the bottom." Devin went on to take the victory. In heat race number two, Devin started on the outside front row and went on to claim the win in heat two.

Devin started the A-Main from the pole position(seven poles in seven races in 2011) and went on to lead all fifteen laps to take career win number nineteen. " We had a good Kart all night. I am getting more and more comfortable with every lap I turn. My Grandpa(Glen) and my Dad(Ron) have helped me a lot with my driving this year. I kind of struggled the first couple races with the speed and it showed. I just hope we can keep this going for a long time."

Devin captured career win number 18 at ECS Friday Night July 8th. After winning heat race number one from the fourth starting position and heat race number two from front row outside, Devin put his Stew Hansen backed, TRR Powered, Avenger on the pole(6th pole in 6 races). Devin opened a commanding lead right away and drove off to a comfortable victory over McKenna Haase and Josh Moffitt.

"It was a great points night for the 21 Team. We won both heat races and the Main tonight. We got to run a new TRR Engine and it ran very well for us. It feels good to get a win for Tim and Gina Doogs and Dake Law Office who are our out of state supporters that do not get to see us race that much. We are very lucky to have there support!"

After three weeks of trying, Devin Pulled the Stew Hansen's 21 TRR Powered Avenger into victory lane friday night. This put a big smile on his face after leading opening night and have the floor pan fall out of the car on a bumpy race track. Then on night two he had a big lead and ran into a lap car. Devin went to the back and came back to finish third. Then two weeks ago we had one of the best races I have seen at English Creek. Devin and McKenna(Haase) put on a great show weaving in and out of lap traffic going three wide at times. Devin came home with a hard fought second.

Devin made it a clean sweep on the night winning Both heats(seven out of eight on the year) and his 17th feature win(12th at ECS). ECS is off this week and resumes July 8th. The 2011 rookie in the BoxStock class and current point leader was glad he could pull off the win for Grandma Wignall. It will be a year June 30th we lost her. She was Devin's biggest fan and we are sure she was watching over him friday night.

After a very disappointing season last year, both on and off the track, Devin is looking forward to a new beginning. Even with several rain outs and 3 nights of equipment failures,he finished last year with 2 wins and ended up second in points at English Creek Speedway. Although that was a pretty good accomplishment after an emotional season, Devin still manages to look ahead after the death of his number one fan-Grandma Judy Wignall. "She would have wanted me to continue racing because that is what I love to do."

Devin kicked off the 2011 racing season at Newton Kart Klub in Newton, Iowa. This marked Devin's third trip to NKK and at the end of the night he was able to pull the 21 machine in victory lane for the second time in three starts at the speedway. "We had a different Avenger Chassis, a new TRR Racing Engines Box Stock power plant, and it was the first time on the Hoosier treaded tires. It was good to get back behind the wheel, but i think the treaded tires are going to take some time to get use to." Devin said.

Devin and his team take to English Creek Speedway Friday night for his rookie season in the box stock class. Devin Wignall Racing is ready for 2010 to end. With the loss of his number one fan-Grandma Judy Wignall, the bad luck the team is having, the rainouts, and the engine rule change nothing has gone right for the 8 year old from Altoona, Iowa. It has been one miserable year quoted Devin.
This year mother nature is tied so far in wins as we have had races six each. 2010 has seen Devin score one win on July 16th, three 2nds, a 3rd, and a 4th at ECS in the weekly points races. Nationals was not good to the 21 team as well with a burnt up clutch and hurt motor in the first qualifier. If it was not for bad luck we would not have any at all said Devin's Grandpa Glen Wignall. We just started getting this Honda Clone thing figured out and it has done nothing but cause us headaches.
The team has had a hard time focusing on the task at hand with the loss of Grandma-Judy Wignall who died on June 30th of a sudden heart attack. Grandma did alot for the team and she has surely been missed by all around the racing community. Devin and his family would like to thank the support he has recieved from the racing community, family, and friends. She will live on through our hearts.
