Devin Wignall Racing is ready for 2010 to end. With the loss of his number one fan-Grandma Judy Wignall, the bad luck the team is having, the rainouts, and the engine rule change nothing has gone right for the 8 year old from Altoona, Iowa. It has been one miserable year quoted Devin.
This year mother nature is tied so far in wins as we have had races six each. 2010 has seen Devin score one win on July 16th, three 2nds, a 3rd, and a 4th at ECS in the weekly points races. Nationals was not good to the 21 team as well with a burnt up clutch and hurt motor in the first qualifier. If it was not for bad luck we would not have any at all said Devin's Grandpa Glen Wignall. We just started getting this Honda Clone thing figured out and it has done nothing but cause us headaches.
The team has had a hard time focusing on the task at hand with the loss of Grandma-Judy Wignall who died on June 30th of a sudden heart attack. Grandma did alot for the team and she has surely been missed by all around the racing community. Devin and his family would like to thank the support he has recieved from the racing community, family, and friends. She will live on through our hearts.

Waiting and waiting seems to be the theme for 2010 so far. With the first two weeks of the season rained out at English Creek Speedway, Devin is ready to hit the track. The off season seemed like forever, " said the 2009 ECS Track Champion, I am just ready to get on the track." So far the weather looks good for Friday May 21st.

With the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East/West Challenge at Iowa Speedway Sunday May 23rd, Devin got the chance to meet and sign autographs with Joe Gibbs Racing development driver Brett Moffitt and Bill McAnally Racing's Paulie Harraka at the Freedom Tire Goodyear Store in Altoona on Thursday. The rain played havoc with the event, but Devin had a fun time meeting the gang from Iowa Speedway.

On December 5th Devin and his family and friends attended the 2009 English Creek Speedway Banquet that was held at the Knoxville Raceway Sprint Car Hall of Fame and Museum. Devin was awarded a check and trophy along with a jacket for winning the 2009 Restrictor Box Stock championship. Also Ken Berry(track photographer) awarded Devin with a framed 8x10 picture for his 2009 season championship. Devin gave a great speech for his 2009 marketing partners and his family support.
Devin is busy getting ready for the 2010 season. His plans are still pending right now, but hopes to have everything locked in place by February 1st. We still plan on racing weekly at ECS, but we have a couple of other options pending right now.

Sunday afternoon marked the final points race of the 2009 season for English Creek Speedway. With a win from the front row in the heat race, Devin started the trophy dash from outside row three. Before one lap was in the books the 21 machine went from sixth to first and went on to claim the checkerd flag in the dash. After only four laps complete in the A-Main, the Stew Hansen Dodge City Jeep machine was turned around from behind and sent to the rear of the field. There was only one thing to do in the last eight laps and that was to put on a show for the fans. With four laps left in the A-Main, the TRR powered machine made its way back to the front for good and went on to claim win number twelve on the season. Nine of those wins coming at ECS.
What a season we had this year! To win nine out of twelve A-mains, ten out of twelve Trophy Dashes and ten out of twelve Heat Races is amazing.

On Sunday September 6th Devin and the crew got win number ten on the season at Poplar Grove Speedway in Kamrar, Iowa. We put together a different kart after the nationals and it seems to be working really well. We pulled off another clean sweep at Tim Mortenson's little dirt track. The people that operate the race track are very nice and we hope to race there a few times in 2010.
Saturday September 12th found us back at Dan Ebright's English Creek Speedway for our eleventh points race of the season. The night started out great for the 21 team with a win in the heat race and the trophy dash. It was on to the A main where Devin took a commanding lead from the start and ended up leading every single lap for his 11th win of the season and his 8th at ECS. With only one points race remaining on Saturday September 26th, Devin has enough points to clinch the 2009 Points Championship. That is great news for the driver of the 21 machine. Devin has had an unbelievable year at ECS. In eleven races he has had 9-heat race wins, 9-trophy dash wins, and 8-A main wins with one DNF(upside down). After a disappointing week at the Outlaw Dirt Kart Nationals and a week off to look back on things, it was time to hop back in the saddle once again for the 21 team. We had some things that did not go right with the chassis during Nationals, so we found ourselves racing at Poplar Grove Speedway in Kamrar, Iowa on August 23. This would be the first visit for the Outlaw Dirt Karts at Tim Mortenson's race track. The track personnel along with with the other racers were great to work with. Devin put down some good laps and pulled off a win in his Stew Hansen Dodge City Jeep Bianchi Boys Pizza & Pasta TRR powered machine. It felt really good to get back in victory lane and get rolling again.
Rain washed out Friday's points race #13 at English Creek Speedway and forced a Sunday make up date. At that point, the team decided to run a totally different kart for Sunday's show. It will be blackjack or bust Devin's dad said. We have a good point lead right now, so now is the time to try new things for next season. With racing you are always looking to find that little edge. The choice to run the different kart paid off. Devin managed to sweep the night: heat race, trophy dash, and the A-main to pick up his 9th win on the year.
With only two weekly points races left at ECS, Devin has 127 point lead. We are trying our hardest to bring home a championship for our marketing partners and the people that support our race team. The 2009 Outlaw Dirt Kart Nationals are in the books with a 4th place finish in the big show and two 3rd place finishes in the qualifiers.
On Wednesday Devin had a camera crew from Des Moines channel WHO-TV 13 following him around at the beginning of the day. Sports broadcaster, Andy Fales, did a story on the Dirt Kart Nationals and interviewed Devin. "It was cool to see myself on TV" Devin said.
The week was long and hot and the team could not get the handling right on the 21 car. It was not the finishes we were hoping for, but all said and done, the Stew Hansen Dodge Jeep Avenger rolled back in the trailer in one piece after three hard days of racing.
The team returns to action Friday, August 28th at English Creek Speedway. With only three races left in the championship, Devin will be rolling in with a 114 point lead. This weekend wasn't so good for the 21 team. Devin got 2nd in his heat and won his dash. The feature was a little different story. Was unfortunately involved in a crash that resulted in him being upside down, so he had his first DNF of the season. Not what the team was looking for going into preparation for Nationals.
